Moderation

Since becoming an Acupuncturist I have noticed a pattern amongst some patients who often feel that they need to tell me what they think I want to hear, much like we tend to curb the amount of alcohol consumed weekly when we register with a new GP.

Even when I began to train as an acupuncturist, I had a preconceived idea that I should be vegan, meditate and drink herbal tea, but I soon realised I had no need to be worried… Acupuncturists can party!

As practitioners, we are not here to judge you on the fish and chips you had last night or the 7 pints you guzzled down at the weekend, but we are here to help you moderate that. At the end of the day, we are all human, we have cravings, a need to unwind, or some form of outlet for the day-to-day challenges we face.

In fact, these cravings are a great indicator for me as an Acupuncturist as to how I can tailor my treatment plan to you. By nourishing you as an individual with the right points I can help resolve the body’s constant need for sugary treats or salt and vinegar crisps.

The only consideration we need to look out for is when these cravings or overconsumption of a particular food or drink becomes inappropriate and will impact your health or the treatment itself. But fear not, through a commitment to a course of treatment we can highlight your triggers, be it emotional or physical, and work together to bring you back to moderation.
